Village Leadership Academy is Moving!
This fall, Village Leadership Academy will relocate to a new school home at 3006 E. Goldstone Drive in Meridian, Idaho. The new Meridian campus will support Village Leadership Academy’s commitment to hands-on learning, facilitating leadership in students as individuals, and the importance of building a community in and around the classroom.
School leadership said, “We are excited about the opportunities this new facility presents to our community. It will allow us to continue to provide small classes, a safe and close-knit community feeling, and ensure that we can focus on developing today’s leaders as a Leader in Me school. This also marks a new start for our school, ensuring a healthy operational school for the next 5 years.”

Idaho Charter Commission Unanimously Approves VLA Charter Contract
BOISE, Idaho, March 2, 2023 – Village Leadership Academy, Idaho’s first K-8 Leader in Me public charter school, announced today that the Idaho Charter Commission voted unanimously to approve the school’s charter contract for a five-year renewal late last week, with four conditions, and comes as the school has made substantial improvements in governance, oversight, and financial stability. The Commission gave VLA direction to continue making improvements related to its facility loan and financial measures, as well as to focus on student proficiency goals.
Lead Administrator Josh Noteboom noted that “The commission’s decision to renew our charter reflects the hard work of everyone at Village Leadership Academy. I am grateful for the trust the commission has in our team to tackle the difficult situation our school has been in over the past five years. We are hopeful for the future and look forward to great things for our school.”
Board chair Adrian Castaneda said “I would like to say thank you to my fellow board members, administration, and staff for their dedication. With their effort, we were able to achieve unanimous approval from the Charter Commission to renew our charter with conditions. I am grateful for all their work and the continued support from our teachers and families who have been great examples of the 7 Habits.”
Village Leadership Academy serves approximately 300 students and is a neighborhood school of choice. The school is committed to developing and delivering a well-rounded educational program for all its students using the Leader in Me model and provides a challenging, hands-on curriculum to cultivate students to be critical thinkers and confident leaders in a safe, supportive, and loving environment.

BOISE, IDAHO – Today, the 2023-2024 Village Leadership Academy lottery application officially opened. The applications will close on February 24, 2023. The lottery draw will be held on March 3, 2023, at 1:00 pm.
Applications must be received by 11:59 pm on February 24, 2023. Applications will be drawn in random order, according to priority groups:
First Priority – children of founders and full-time employees
Second Priority – siblings of students already enrolled or selected by the lottery
Third Priority – students who reside within the Boise School District boundary
Fourth Priority – students who reside outside of the Boise School District boundary
Enrollment offers will be made via email within 24 hours of the lottery.
After the lottery, applications may still be submitted. Students will be placed on the waitlist and offers of enrollment will be offered as openings become available.

VILLAGE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY RECEIVES LIGHTHOUSE RECERTIFICATION

BOISE, IDAHO - Village Leadership Academy proudly announces its official Lighthouse School recertification with the prestigious, award-winning Leader In Me school model. This recertification is evidence of the school’s excellent school and student outcomes, commitment to implementing the model with fidelity, and the school’s broader impact on staff, students, and parents.
Josh Noteboom, Lead Administrator of Village Leadership Academy, said, “We are honored to have received our Leader in Me Lighthouse recertification. Since our initial certification two years ago, our outstanding staff, students, and families have worked together diligently to maintain the rigorous standards necessary to achieve this milestone and earn this coveted recognition. We are thankful for the continuous commitment by all to make our school a pillar of exemplary education.”
Leader in Me is an evidence-based model, developed in partnership with educators, designed to build perseverance and leadership in students, create a high-trust culture, and help improve academic achievement. With Leader in Me, students learn to become self-aware and interdependent, take initiative, plan ahead, set and track goals, do their homework, prioritize their time, be considerate of others, communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, find creative solutions, value differences, live a balanced life, and contribute to society.
Village Leadership Academy will maintain its Lighthouse certification for two years; at the end of the two years, the school can recertify its certification through an on-site certification.
